Pago de Hacienda Queiles gives its oils their own, very defined characteristics, determined mainly by the climate and soil conditions provided by the Queiles Valley. Two factors that define the unique and unrepeatable personality of the EVOOs produced in this grove.
Around
In the Queiles Valley between Mountain Range, Rivers and Monasteries
In this valley there are three Abbeys of the Cistercian Order : Tulebras, Fitero and Veruela . These are monasteries where monks have worked these lands since medieval times and they are recognised for their historical value as the first olive groves in the region . Linked to this historical wealth is the geography of the valley, made up of the Iberian mountain range with El Moncayo and the Queiles river that bathes its slopes. This combination of history and environment gives this valley a particular charm, steeped in tradition in the production of olive oil.
Climate
An Extreme Continental Climate that Promotes Natural Sanitation
Our olive grove, located on stony-limestone soils, has a particular climate of strong contrasts . With extreme temperatures both in winter and summer and little rainfall. This climate, determined by the almost perpetual snow of the Sierra del Moncayo and also by the strong northern wind with its own name, the Cierzo, encourages the olive grove to heal naturally. These characteristics give Pago de Hacienda Queiles a unique character and allow us to produce Premium EVOOs with unique characteristics
Location
A small valley in the south of Navarra
Hacienda Queiles is located in the Queiles Valley , very close to the border with Aragon, where it rises in Moncayo, the highest peak in the Iberian Mountains. This same valley is the passage of the second largest river in the Iberian Peninsula, the Ebro , which receives the waters of the Queiles River , which gives its name to the valley and to our oil mill.
